I must be really thick, I'm still bamboozled. Bought some Optimum No Rinse from the US. The bottle says 1 OZ (product) : 2 Gallons (Water). Does anyone know the UK equivalent dilution ratio? I made it 250:1 but I'm not sure?!

My problem seems to always be the lower battery cap seizing, and me destroying the aluminum flashlight housing and cap trying to loosen it (with all the various means I've tried) where I can't get the batteries out at all. ;-(

I've two of the much larger black MagLites - I believe that they each hold 4 D size batteries. Both have been transformed from flashlights into clubs because the batteries have swollen, and it is impossible to remove the end caps.

Instead of MDF that is a hard piece of wood, I would just a piece 2x4 that is made of softer pine wood. Another option is to try to push it out using a clamp.

Just to add as below , Ref the Vaseline this is a petroleum product and should not go any where near rubber. Gummi Phlege is designed for this task and works very very well.

Here is a tip once you have successfully removed whats left of the old batteries , and cleaned the inside of the casing , apply a small amount of Silicon grease to the inside , this may help you if the batteries leak again .

Don’t use tools to get it out, just pour some white vinegar down the tube and a job will do itself to get the battery out.

You have them on wrong. The bottom point of the crest is supposed to point to the air valve.

I have a laptop with brushed aluminum but it is black, and the color has faded from sweat and generated some scratches. If I polish it with any metal polish, could the paint come off?

Did this exact thing with my maglite like these lites....broke that ring, bent the contact, made a real mess of it and I took my time.....perhaps my lite was too far gone......

It's almost unbelievable that a company would manufacture their products so that, instead of just easily changing batteries, many owners will just resort to throwing the flashlight away. This is far too involved for most people to try to fix. Look how many videos there are on this exact same issue!

Thanks for the helpful video! Has anyone actually experienced a key fob failure requiring a trip to the dealer after the battery died? One of my fobs had a dead battery - it's my spare key so it's probably been that way *for months*. I replaced the battery and the key fob still works fine.
